About McGarry Ní Éanaigh Architects

We are a design based architectural practice which thrives on challenging briefs particularly ones with strong public content for both public and private clients. We provide comprehensive architectural and urban planning services for our clients on a wide range of projects from master planning and housing to boardwalks, public spaces and schools.

We have won numerous awards since our foundation in 1984 with the joint CCCB European Prize for Urban Public Space 2000 and the President Robinson Design Award 1993 being of particular note.

Our aim, on behalf of our clients, is to provide a competent and thorough design service which gives our clients the best of what we have to offer ą our ideas. We have a strong track record of delivering projects on time and on budget. We are passionate about providing architectural design solutions which are carefully considered, pragmatic and creative. We are committed to continual assessment and research for sustainable and environmentally sound ideas and products.

Our objectives are:

- to provide competent and thoughtful architectural services striving to create lasting pieces of architecture

- to act when requested as design team leaders and project managers coordinating the efforts of our professional colleagues and driving projects forward

- to manage effectively and constructively the design process with our colleagues and clients as well as in house

- to balance carefully competing issues to ensure that the client is getting the best design possible within the budget and time allowed

- to present ourselves and our ideas in an engaging way which fosters dialogue by producing drawings and physical models relevant to the audience whether it is a community group, contractor, board of directors or our professional colleagues

We treat every project as a unique experience and work with each client to understand right from the outset what the client’s needs, aspirations and interests are. We bring to the table a creative, experienced team from a diverse range of backgrounds.

We capitalise on our ability to listen and to respond to our client’s needs while working through all of the other factors influencing a built project - the constraints and potentials of the site, the brief, the local regulations, etc. to transform the ideas into a design using drawings, sketches and physical models in communicating our intentions.

We strongly believe in a coordinated and integrated approach to design which marries together spatial concepts with those of light, structure, building services, context and the human body since that is how we all experience architecture.

We are deeply committed and interested in making architecture with a public content which can serve as the stage for life’s events whether its as simple as a walk along the river or a gathering of students in the main space of a school. We see the importance of the public and communal role of architecture as its defining characteristic which separates it from other disciplines.
